Maria has been a member of the Florida and District of Columbia Bars since 2004, and is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator. Maria has participated in Hillsborough Association of Women Lawyers and mentored Stetson Law students throughout her time as an attorney. A financial and real estate background made a natural transition for Maria to begin her career in mortgage banking and regulatory compliance. Maria held general counsel positions for both Mortgage Banking Systems and Macquarie Mortgages USA, Inc.. She also was an associate at Lotstein Buckman, LLP in Washington D.C. Maria has worked for brokers and business to provide loan audits, contract review and land use-planning comprehension. Most recently, Maria became a licensed realtor in 2018. Maria received her JD/MBA, cum laude, from Stetson University College of law in 2003. While in law school, she worked at Gassman Bates and Associates and was an intern for Judge Elizabeth Kovachevich. In 2001, Maria graduated cum laude from Florida State University of a B. S. degree in Finance.
